Outside of physically employing a coach (which is costly – typically £100-150 per month), The Cycling Coach is the only customised & dynamic solution on the market which adapts to your changing levels of fitness and personal circumstances. Every single programme (there are currently over 100) has been developed using proven methods of developing force, and tested in real life by fully qualified strength & conditioning coaches.
If your circumstances significantly change (e.g. you move to a new training phase, your availability to train changes, injury etc), you just need to fill in the questionnaire and you will be issued with a new, customised programme. If you need to make changes to your existing programme, we can make individual changes (dependant on your membership level).
Not essential (at first), but strongly recommended! For an effective carry over to cycling performance, you need to train the ability to produce maximum muscular force, which requires external resistance (i.e. weight). Joining a gym or having equipment at home will provide the right environment for you to achieve this training adaptation.
Alan (Head Coach and Founder) is a British Cycling Road, Time Trial & Track Coach and an Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach (ASCC) with the UK Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA), the professional body for strength & conditioning in the UK. Not to be confused with Personal Trainers, there are only a few hundred ASCCs and they are typically embedded within professional sports teams and organisations (such as British Cycling, England Rugby, UK Athletics, Manchester City etc). Although he works with professional athletes, Alan chose to remain private because he’s passionate about giving athletes of all abilities access to the right level of support.
Your strength programme is delivered via a third-party app called TrainHeroic (owned by TrainingPeaks). The app is completely FREE and is available to download from App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store (Android). Each time you complete your assessment, you will be given an Access Code to unlock your programme in TrainHeroic and your mobility programme will be unlocked within the membership site.
Yes, absolutely. Not least because, being frank, if you have been following 99% of the guidance out there – then you haven’t been training for the right adaptation! The Cycling Coach has developed 100s of individual programmes, tested on athletes of all abilities, including elite & professional athletes.
